frigid air of night
dark light shadowing as day
...moonfoolish dogs howl
Last night I was out for the first time with my tripod, freezing as I tried to capture a glorious full moon night. I have an obvious lack of technical skill in these photos, but I hope to convey the surreal feeling of standing in the yard, looking at a sky that was as bright as day. Jet streams could easily be seen and the light threw shadows on the ground that were almost as distinct as midday. I hope you enjoy my little offering today, as well as the night sky wherever you live. Bundle up, and step outside. Look up. And experience the moment.

I'm so with you on this one, I have tried countless times to catch a shot of the moon, there is definitely something surreal about these. We said last night that the moon has been so bright lately, we usually need a torch to walk the dog but the moonlight has been perfect. I think you did great with these shots :)

I love it Cath! The first photo just totally relaxed me. I could feel the frigid air as the night passes on. Excellent capture!

I always wonder how people take such beautiful pictures of the moon. Every time I attempt it all I end up with is a pea-sized dot in the picture. I must be doing something wrong. haha. As much as I love the "star-studded" moon and the V for victory. I loved the picture underneath and just a hint of glowing light. It is stupendous.
ReplyDeleteGlorious photo!
ReplyDeleteLoved that first shot of the moon. What a beautiful moment.

A beautiful moment! Loved it! I wish I had a camera that could take pics like that at night. There are few things that can compare to the mesmerizing beauty of the night sky.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the wonderful comments, and I can't wait to check out all the Friday Moments!
ReplyDeletePhotography, like painting, is a passion for me, and I always appreciate the feedback... :D

I absolutely love your pictures: the tangible cold in the first and that lovely bare tree in the second. I am heading out to check the sky! Thanks Cath for sharing, superb!
ReplyDeleteI love both those photos. Sharing to Twitter because it is just that gorgeous and meaningful.
ReplyDelete@Barbara I am constantly looking at the sky, waiting...for that moment. Thanks for the comments Barbara. :D
ReplyDelete@TheChronicR Thanks for the comment, and the tweet... :D
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! That's one of the things I miss about my house in the US....sitting in the hot tub at night looking at the stars!
ReplyDeleteThe photos are poems in themselves. Thank you for sharing these wonders, Cath!
ReplyDeleteWhat an AMAZING shot! Looks like a Star of Sapphire or, I suppose, even a Moonstone! Being in the line of work we are, lots of craziness comes with a full moon, so I am thrilled to have this reminder of how positive and magical it can be.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAmazing shots. That said, I feel cold just looking at them!
ReplyDelete@Marie from Rock the Kasbah I loved the hot tub stars thing, and then my husband put a roof on the deck...but he did string up Christmas lights so I do still see stars, sort of. :D
ReplyDelete@Joy Page Manuel I am so glad you enjoyed them Joy. xo
ReplyDelete@tbaoo it was frightenly cold out there, and if I hadn't been testing the tripod, the photos would have had a whole different look to them. :D
ReplyDelete@Karen yes, Karen, if you only knew the day at work I'd had before those shots I took of the moon... *sigh*
ReplyDelete@Janine thank you, Janine. :D
ReplyDelete@MuMuGB I am glad you can feel the cold Muriel, because that is exactly what I was trying to convey... :D
