I'm thinking of John Brown - born near Charlotte in 1750, buried near Clarksville in 1816.

It is located at Redding, California at the Turtle Bay Museum...one of my favorite places to visit when I lived there and worked at Mercy Hospital. There was a beautiful Arboretum too nearby...
